Car Hire Agreement
All car rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or upon collecting the vehicle. This document outlines important terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations for that rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Fishponds Car Hire, drivers must be at least 21 years old. Age restrictions may vary depending on the vehicle type, with additional fees applicable for those under 25. A valid driving license suitable for the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. Payment information and a security deposit must also be provided. Please review the Rental Agreement for any other specific requirements.
Booking and Payment Terms
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Fishponds location. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with transactions processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document the state of the vehicle. When returning the vehicle, please ensure it is in the same condition as when it was collected, with allowances for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as provided; refueling fees will apply for lower levels. Timely returns are expected, and late returns may lead to extra charges. If you anticipate a delay, please contact us immediately. You are liable for any parking fines, traffic tickets, or related charges incurred during your rental, along with an applicable administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Coverage
- Standard third-party insurance is included with every rental. You can find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts outlined in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to limit your financial exposure. We advise you to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless additional coverage applies. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance status.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise details, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- Use of the vehicle for any unlawful activities is prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any other dangerous driving practices. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized individuals to drive it is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly against policy. The vehicle must be used only for its intended purposes and within specified passenger and weight limits. Operating the vehicle outside designated geographical boundaries without prior approval is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Fishponds Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits or data, that may arise from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the amount you paid for your rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. All disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of the English and Welsh courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
